Butter, an overweight high school student, feels like an outsider and when relationship issues arise at school, he decides to kill himself online by eating himself to death. This plan gains him instant attention and he enjoys the fame but when he realizes that people actually want to see him die online, he has to make a decision whether to die famous or live. This engaging coming-of-age novel for grades 8-10 deals with many current issues, including suicide, cyber bullying, self-harm, depression, obesity, relationships, dating, and the impact of social media, and is suitable for read-aloud, a novel study, and literature circles.
